Finding a sailboat to live on in San Francisco Bay?
My parents are avid sailors and are planning to come to SF from Nov to Jan of this year. Instead of renting an apartment, they would like to find out how they can rent a sailboat to live on board and take advantage of sailing the Bay. They are currently living on their own Catamaran in the Bahamas and are very familiar with boat life and all aspects of it. Does anyone know of a good place to search for boats that may be available for this type of arrangement?
they had better be wealthy and know someone to find anything in San Francisco. there are nicer places

check with a local yacht broker, or at some of the local sailing clubs or yacht clubs. maybe some one would be interested in renting there boat for this period of time. good luck!

Live-aboard space is very scarce on SF Bay. There are no live-aboard slips available in SF. The marinas around the Bay have a limited number available and the waiting lists are long. As for finding a boat to lease or rent that is in a legal live-aboard slip, they might try posting an ad in Latitude 38 to see if anyone will reply. Also check with the various harbormasters in the area. They might be aware of possibilities or opportunities in their own marinas. Whatever you do, keep it above board. You wouldn't want to be evicted as a sneak-aboard part way through the stay.
